OVERVIEW
The 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution is pervaded by distinct feelings. On one hand, a long-lost revolutionary nostalgia; on the other, the reality of an island that, after five decades, gives us little cause to celebrate with enthusiasm. It is with this critical mindset that LAB.OITO7 Independent Art Gallery issues a call for artists and photographers to submit their works on the theme 50 OTHER YEARS . Cuba in Review.

Artists may participate in the video or photo/digital art categories, as described below. All participants in the photo category must submit works of the same size: 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6 inches), vertical or horizontal.

Sales proceeds will be donated to help political prisoners arrested by Castro’s totalitarian regime. Institutional support will be provided by the manager of the cubanet.org Web site and the money will be donated to help the families of prisoners to continue their struggle for real, respectable and truthful democracy on the island.

1. The call is open to any person, from any nationality, but submissions must be made by e-mail. Minimum age: 18.
